Well, it’s almost time to order myself another dozen pink roses – a gift I give myself every time I get a new book published.

I just finished writing the fourth book in my Sarah Davies series and it’s called Raging Waters. This story packs the same punches as the other three books do and it’s filled with all the same adrenalin-rushing action and fast pace that leaves even me gasping for breath – and I’m the one writing the book!

This story takes Sarah and her cousin Meagan and their boyfriends, Brad and Ali, to a park two hours from their home town for a family reunion. And as usual, Sarah gets a premonition through a dream and sure enough their fun day becomes a living nightmare as her five-year old cousin, an adorable little boy who suffers with severe autism, goes missing just as an unexpected summer storm sets in. And their greatest fear is that he might be near the wild rapids of a raging river that’s headed for a vicious falls.

The little boy Joey is modelled after my own grandson Joey who suffers from severe autism. The reactions and emotions of the little boy in the story are compatible with the true reactions and emotions of a child with autism. And anyone who is familiar with the disease knows that children with it have an incredible attraction to water, and the fear or understanding of the fear within them gets lost when they’re near it so they will inevitably go into it without realizing the danger.

This story likely has more emotion in it than the others because of our automatic love and concern for Joey and the fear we develop for his safety and rescue. But Sarah has her own worries about Brad that we don’t see in the other books. The girls are in college and the guys get their opportunity to attend a distant out-of-town college to pursue their own careers. But there are strings attached that leave us wondering if Sarah and Brad will continue to be together or if it’s the end of their relationship.

The book ends with the possibility of there being yet another story that could come, but it also lets us know that Sarah is done with wild outdoor adventures with her friends. We’ve watched her grow up and gain confidence in herself and now she’s ready to return to college and pursue her own career – with or without Brad.

Raging Waters will be released some time in the fall – of 2012. I’ll keep you all posted so you don’t miss it.
