Writing Short Stories

Many people dream of writing a book but the task is too difficult and time consuming. But they are able to focus on more achievable goals such as writing poems and short stories.

I have had a passion to write since I was a child. I’ve written dozens of short stories and hundreds of poems, and when I realized that I really wanted to write books, I knew that I needed more than just my creative abilities. I returned to college and studied literature for children and for adults so that I would know how to write great books and meet the market standards.

Not everyone has the ability to study professionally beit it due to time or costs, but there are many sites online that offer free knowledge and I am offering this to all of you.

The LinkedIn network is one of the largest business networks in the world, and within this network I have been given the privilege of managing my own sub-group with the Aspiring Writers Group. This is called the Aspiring Writers Monthly Short Story Competitions and it’s devoted to writing short stories.

It’s new but there will be discussions covering every aspect of writing short stories including how to write, what to write and how to market them. As well, there will be one competition posted each month with the winner having his or her entry published in the annual Lebrary.com anthology of short stories.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about writing short stories and to enter a monthly contest. As busy as I am with writing my current books for publication, I am thrilled to spend time with this group because we can learn and share experiences and encourage each other as writers to become better at our passion for writing.

If you want to expand your horizons as a writer, please join us and share your passion with us – and with the rest of the world.
